In my opinion and as I earlier warned, Obaseki’s actions directly contributed to the PDP’s loss in this election. By blocking all avenues for reconciliation and failing to unify the party, he demonstrated a lack of political competence, particularly in a complex environment like Nigeria.

His conduct was clear and evident on the body language of his fellow PDP governors, who ultimately abandoned him to his fate.
While the APC united and secured their candidate’s victory by any means necessary, the PDP the most ineffective opposition in history failed to act. Instead of raising alarms, they were consumed by internal conflicts or simply absent from Edo State, a dismal display of a fractured opposition.
Yet, it’s a classic case of political karma though “what goes around, comes around”.
Obaseki himself played a central role in dismantling the PDP, using dubious court rulings to disqualify legitimate candidates who had won their primaries during presidential elections a clear case of Dog eating dogs. This has brought about the political consequences we see today. He now stands without any moral ground to seek public sympathy, he is like a political orphan today left adrift in turbulent waters of his own making.
If we must condemn the action of APC , we must also condemn Obaseki conduct of the local government elections, I would say there was no genuine election only a selection process which clearly would not give us moral justification to condemn what APC had done and that is why it’s not good to support evil even when it favours us.
Asue's defeat wasn't due to incompetence or lack of acceptance but rather Obaseki’s missteps and karma that worked against him. Whether the election was free and fair is another matter, as those who seek equity must come with clean hands.
Despite his boasts of standing against federal might, he even underestimated political opponents within and outside who knew the game far better than him.
Though warnings were given, they went unheeded. I shouted but many never took my warning seriously but continued to say e nor fit happen.
Despite the outcome, we must set aside our political differences and congratulate the declared winner, Monday Okpebholo , and the APC loyalists, with hopes that they will deliver competent leadership moving forward.
The APC must now govern with magnanimity and avoid overextending their political advantage.
Their Senate candidate must be someone who will truly represents the people’s interests and can stand at the red chamber to advocate for the interest of our people.
Once again, congratulations to Senator Monday Okpebholo and the APC. Let’s hope this victory leads to better governance for the people of Edo State.
