What? That’s the Point!
An idiot who thinks himself wise. Edo has committed the greatest folly: electing a nobody to lead a people rich in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. How could this happen? We are doomed—or are we?
No, we’re not doomed at all. God often uses the lowly to confound the wise. The message here is for one person alone: Godwin.
Only God has the power to raise someone up or bring them down, and this simple truth seems lost on Godwin.
God is showing him just how insignificant the office of governor truly is. If He wished, He could place a goat in that office—or declare it vacant entirely.
Remember, in the history of the Benin Kingdom, there was a time of interregnum. God even placed a 12-year-old on the throne to rule a vast empire. His ways are not ours.
Godwin wasn’t elected on his first try—it was handed to him. And what did he do to the person whose mandate he stole? He dealt with him mercilessly, ruthlessly.
He snatched electoral victories from the rightful winners and handed them to losers. I have the scars.
Godwin thought he was invincible. He became fear itself. He gleefully sought to epitomise the worst in politics.
His machivillian duplicity was atrociously aberrant . Far be it from me to be schadenfreude.
Many believe the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom, but to Godwin, wisdom was an afterthought.
It amuses me when I hear, “Godwin did this, Godwin did that.” My friends, Godwin, did nothing. If you want answers, go ask Nebuchadnezzar.
He boasted, “I’ve never lost an election.” He threatened that the election would be a "do-or-die" affair. He warned that the state would burn. Hubris—the barking of a junkyard dog.
