FACT-FINDING VISIT TO OIL AND GAS COMPANIES IN EDO STATE: PUBLIC INVITATION FOR COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS

PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT



In response to the numerous complaints regarding the operations of petroleum companies in Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the Executive Governor of Edo State, has graciously approved my request to conduct a fact-finding visit to all oil and gas-producing companies within the state.


Consequently, we invite the general public—particularly members of oil and gas-producing communities—to submit any concerns or complaints regarding the operations of petroleum companies in their areas. These concerns may include, but are not limited to:


Implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA)

Compliance with the Local Content Act

Boundary-related disputes between Edo and Delta States in respect of Petroleum facility ownership 

Environmental issues arising from petroleum operations

Any petroleum-related disputes involving companies or individuals within Edo State

This process is designed to accommodate whistleblowers who may be unable to come forward openly due to fear or those who cannot be physically present at our fact-finding meetings.


His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, remains fully committed to protecting the rights of host communities and ensuring fairness in all dealings with petroleum companies operating in Edo State.


Furthermore, we are aware of individuals with vested interests attempting to sabotage our efforts to reclaim what rightfully belongs to the people of Edo State. Any attempt to obstruct or undermine Senator Monday Okpebholo’s administration's commitment to justice and equity will be considered an act against the state and treated accordingly.
