The Destruction of Edo State Under the Past Leadership of Godwin Obaseki and Asue Ighodalo
Edo State, once a shining example of progress and unity, has been left in tatters by the destructive leadership of the former Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his political ally, Asue Ighodalo. Their time in power has been marked by division, disunity, and the introduction of a politics driven by hatred, bitterness, and selfish interests.
Under their rule, the very fabric of our society was torn apart. Obaseki didn’t just govern; he divided the people of Edo, creating an atmosphere of animosity that has yet to heal. His actions sowed distrust and animosity between different sectors of our society, leaving lasting scars that will take years to mend.
But perhaps the most disturbing consequence of their leadership is the army of followers they've left behind. These followers, emboldened by their misguided leaders, have become nothing short of a destructive force. Ignorant and disrespectful, they refuse to engage in reasonable dialogue and see themselves as above reproach. Any dissent, no matter how constructive, is met with insults and vilification. Their loyalty is blind, their ideology foolish, and their inability to understand the harm they are doing to their own state is chilling.
The former governor and his inner circle have created monsters—individuals whose actions now reflect the worst parts of politics. While Obaseki enjoys the comforts of overseas, his followers remain stuck in a web of ignorance and bitterness. They continue to perpetuate the destructive ideology he left behind, even though their leader has abandoned them.
The question is: How will these misguided followers be delivered? The answer is clear—they must open their eyes to the truth. They must recognize that blind loyalty to a failed ideology will only lead to more destruction. Edo State can never truly move forward unless its people unite, heal from the wounds inflicted by Obaseki’s government, and reject the politics of hate and division.
The consequences of continuing down this path are dire. If we do not confront this destructive legacy, if we allow the monsters created by Obaseki and Asue to continue unchecked, we risk further division, stagnation, and ultimately, the collapse of our beloved Edo State.
It’s time for those who still blindly follow this path to wake up and see the truth. Edo State deserves better. The people of Edo deserve better. If we want a future of unity, progress, and prosperity, we must rise above the politics of division and work together to rebuild what has been broken. The time for change is now—before it's too late.
