Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Oil and Gas Commends EDSOGPADEC’s Transparent and Impact-Driven Development Initiative under Francis Osabohien Led Board

… Appreciates Senator Monday Okpebholo for strategic vision for EDSOGPADEC.

The office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Oil and Gas hails the bold, commendable, and visionary leadership of the Okpebholo administration, as exemplified by the recent award of 14 critical development contracts by the Chairman of the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), Hon. Francis Osabuohien.

This strategic move, which marks the beginning of the first phase of infrastructural development across oil-producing communities in Edo State, is a clear demonstration of the administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth, equitable development, and the judicious use of state resources.

The awarded contracts, spanning road construction, markets, electricity infrastructure, and other vital amenities are not only timely but also pivotal to unlocking economic opportunities, enhancing local commerce, and improving the overall quality of life for the people of our oil and gas-rich communities. From the internal roads of Orogho and Oza, to the construction of modern markets in Oben, Ugo, and Iru, as well as the installation of transformers in nine communities, each project underscores a government deeply rooted in service delivery and accountability.

I commend Hon. Osabuohien for insisting on a transparent and competitive procurement process in strict compliance with the Edo State Procurement Agency Commission’s guidelines. His stern warning to contractors against compromising on quality or yielding to political pressure reflects the seriousness and integrity with which this administration treats public trust and project execution.

As Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, I reaffirm the government’s readiness to support and monitor the progress of these projects in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. This administration will continue to ensure that oil-producing areas are not only heard, but seen, felt, and prioritized in every blueprint of progress.

The Okpebholo-led government is laying a foundation of transparency, accountability, and quality and history will remember this moment as one in which Edo’s oil and gas communities truly began to witness transformative change.

I call on all contractors to deliver to specification, to time, and in service to the people. The future is bright for our communities, and this is only the beginning.
