Heaven's Gain, Earthly Loss! (Death Be Not Proud)

As the thoughts and reality of the painful and sudden demise of *Elder Chris Osa Emovon* keeps dawning on me, rattling me up, I am jolted to the fact that even if I wished this was one bad dream I needed to wake up from, the truth remains that "Elder" has painfully transcended to the other side of existence.😢

I am flushed with a plethora of mixed emotions, lost for words for days, questioning the very essence of life and its utter state of vanity that describes its ephemeral nature. How fleeting and poignantly transient life is, how uncertain and abrupt the end can be....

Then, the lines of John Donne's Sonnet, "Death Be Not Proud" crept into my mind, leaving a sad smile on my emotionally laden face.

Death be Not Proud, for your powers seem potent in physically snatching Elder Chris Emovon's mortal body from the plains of this physical glebe, but to your disadvantage, it is a transmogrification to the realms of the celestial. Heaven's Gain! Indeed, Earthly loss!

Death! What more can you do?

You have robbed us of his vibrant smiles, his jocular nature, his buoyant personality, his playfulness, and his youthfulness. You have done your worst by eternally depriving us of his warmth, his wisdom, inspiring humility, his positive energy, and one who epitomizes absolute loyalty to the course he believes in. You have robbed us of a father, a friend, a dependable ally, a teammate, and a motivator, one who loved life and lived it to the fullest.....

But guess what...?

In his legacy, we are ensconced.

His cherished memories are implanted in us with letters of gold and will forever remain indelible. Elder's commitment to service will forever be a spur and an inspiration, something death unfortunately, cannot rob us of..

His enchanting smile reminds us of the positivity of his energy, life's outlook, and unbroken spirit even amid life's fluxes.

Elder Chris didn't just walk on the surface of the Earth, but his sojourn was marked by Impact, consistency, and courage. Even in death, we would eternally pick lessons from his life and live by its guidance. Death be not Proud.

For Now, it is Sad that I won't hear his voice anymore and how he used to call me "GREAT UKATO!", It is sad, I would no longer be able to read from his creative ink and how he used to make the pen bleed, it is sad that I would no longer enjoy his company each time I visit Abuja and have him tell tales of fun, adventure and his future plans, dreams and aspirations 😢

I will miss you, Elder.

In all, for me, Elder's death remains Heaven's Gain, Earthly Loss. A good man, he was!

Adieu the World Elderly!

Rest on dearest Papito...!
