They Defended Failure for Eight Years, Now They Attack Progress in Eight Months

In the height of their desperation and blind loyalty, some unpatriotic politicians shamelessly claimed that “road is not development” and “a flyover is not needed.” These were the same voices that backed Governor Godwin Obaseki’s administration—an administration that spent eight wasteful years ignoring the erosion crisis and allowing Edo’s infrastructure to decay.

Today, the consequences are undeniable. Most of the roads Obaseki constructed are already falling apart. The N250 billion reportedly used for erosion control yielded inconsequential results, and critical areas across Benin remain vulnerable to flooding and environmental degradation.

And now—shockingly—the same individuals who clapped for failure are blaming Senator Monday Okpebholo for flooding in Benin, barely eight months after he assumed office. How do you expect one man to fix in eight months what Obaseki destroyed in eight years? This is not just laughable—it’s evidence of a deep mental disconnect that deserves a brain check.

Let the truth be told: Monday Okpebholo is not a magician; he is a responsible leader working to repair the damages left behind by years of misrule. What we see today is not his failure—it is Obaseki’s legacy of disaster, dressed in PDP hypocrisy.

The Edo State PDP has become the most unfortunate and useless opposition in recent history. Loud, lost, and laughable—its supporters behave like their party: directionless and obsessed with propaganda instead of progress.

Edo people must not be deceived again. We must reject the smooth-talking deceivers who sold us false hope for eight years and left us with broken roads, worsening floods, and dashed dreams. The new leadership is here—and with Monday Okpebholo, restoration has begun.
