"Will Jesus Come Again? A Call to Readiness"
By Pastor Michael Abu
Anchor Text:
"And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel;
Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." — Acts 1:10–11 (KJV)
Many today ask the question: “Will Jesus really come again?” Some mock. Some doubt. Some have been deceived by false prophets. But let every man be a liar and God be true. Yes—Jesus is coming again! Not as a Lamb, but as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Not to be crucified, but to reign in glory!
. The Promise of His Coming :
Jesus Himself declared:
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” — John 14:3
The angels confirmed it in Acts 1:11. The apostles reechoed it through their epistles.
Paul said:
“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout…” — 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17
Peter warned:
“In the last days scoffers will come, walking after their own lusts, saying, Where is the promise of his coming?” — 2 Peter 3:3–4
. Signs of the End Time :
Jesus didn’t leave us without clues. In Matthew 24, He gave clear signs:
Wars and rumors of wars
Nations rising against nations
Famines, pestilences, earthquakes
Betrayals, offenses, hatred
Love of many waxing cold
The rise of false prophets
We are not just reading them—we are living in them.
Paul writes in 2 Timothy 3:1–5:
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves… having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof.”
Today we see:
Men calling evil good and good evil.
The altar polluted.
Ritual killings in the name of wealth.
Even children participating in wickedness. But the Lord is not slack concerning His promise (2 Peter 3:9). He is only giving space for repentance.
. The Danger of Spiritual Sleep :
The most dangerous lie Satan has sold is: “There’s still time.”
But Jesus warned us:
“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” — Matthew 24:42
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night…” — 1 Thessalonians 5:2
Let’s not be like the five foolish virgins (Matthew 25). They had lamps, but no oil. They looked religious but lacked relationship. Many today have the form but not the fire.
. When He Comes… Will You Be Ready? :
The trumpet shall sound. The dead in Christ shall rise.
Those who are in Christ shall be caught up—raptured into glory. (1 Thess. 4:16–17)
But others will face:
Tribulation
The wrath of the Lamb (Revelation 6:16)
Judgment before the white throne (Revelation 20:11–15).
Beloved, this is not to scare you, but to prepare you.
. What Should We Do Now? :
a. Repent and Be Born Again
> “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” — John 3:3
b. Live in Holiness
“Be ye holy, for I am holy.” — 1 Peter 1:16
c. Watch and Pray
> “Take heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.” — Mark 13:33
d. Occupy Till He Comes :
Serve with passion. Love your neighbor. Preach the gospel. Be faithful!
Conclusion :
The question is not “Will Jesus come?”—because He will.
The real question is: “Will you be ready when He comes?”
Don't wait to prepare. Prepare to wait—but live ready.
> “Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching...” — Luke 12:37
Call to Altar :
If you're not sure you're ready, this is the time to surrender. Tomorrow is not promised.
Let us pray:
> “Lord Jesus, I believe You died and rose again. I surrender my heart to You. Wash me, cleanse me, and write my name in the Book of Life. Fill me with your Spirit, and help me to live ready. Amen🙏
