A Historic Day at UBTH: Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu Warmly Welcomed as First Female CMD




The atmosphere was filled with joy and heartfelt appreciation as the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) officially welcomed its new Chief Medical Director, Prof. Mrs. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu. Her appointment marks a historic milestone, as she becomes the first female CMD in the history of the institution.

This morning, Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu was formally introduced to the hospital's management in an electrifying session. The event was graced by eminent personalities including the immediate past CMD, Prof. Darlington Obaseki; the Edo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Barr. Bisi Idaomi; the Former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Ativie; alongside other dignitaries and well-wishers.

Prof. Darlington Obaseki, in his heartfelt handover speech, reflected on his tenure and charged the new leadership to build on the existing foundation. This was followed by an inspiring acceptance speech from Prof. Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, who expressed gratitude to God and to all present, while pledging to steer UBTH into greater heights.

The POI Women were not left out, radiating pride and solidarity. Shalom Dentals also joined in, lending their support and warm wishes. Representatives of the Ugbowo host community expressed great joy and open arms, welcoming Prof. Ize-Iyamu as one of their own and pledging their cooperation for a new era of progress.
