"THE BENIN KINGDOM AND NIGERIA MOURN A GREAT SON – DR. SOLOMON ARASE"
It is with deep shock and heavy hearts that I received the sad news of the passing of my big brother, friend, and elder statesman, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, Former Inspector General of Police and immediate past Chairman of the Police Service Commission.
Today, we mourn the loss of a proud son of the Great Benin Kingdom, a leader of remarkable integrity, and a patriot whose life was defined by service to God, country, and humanity.
Dr. Solomon Arase was more than a distinguished public servant; he was a mentor to many, a dependable guide, and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him. As Inspector General of Police, he introduced reforms that reshaped the Nigeria Police Force, championed professionalism, and advanced the course of community-oriented policing. His tenure brought innovations in intelligence-led policing and left a lasting impact on the security architecture of our nation.
As Chairman of the Police Service Commission, he offered his wealth of experience, ensuring that discipline, accountability, and professionalism remained the bedrock of the Police Force. Through his work, he strengthened the trust between the police and the citizens they swore to protect.
His passing is not only a loss to his family and the Benin Kingdom, but also to Oredo, Edo State, and indeed the entire Nation. We have lost a trailblazer, a statesman, and a worthy son whose footprints in public service will remain indelible in history.
On behalf of the good people of Oredo Federal Constituency, I extend heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Nigeria Police Force, the Benin Kingdom, and all who are touched by this painful loss.
We pray that the Almighty grants his noble soul eternal rest and gives the family strength to bear this great loss.
Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe FNSE
MHR Oredo Federal Constituency.
