Cardoso Leads Nigeria’s Delegation to World Bank–IMF Annual Meetings in Washington D.C.

Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings in Washington D.C., which open on Monday, October 13.

Cardoso, who serves as Nigeria’s Alternate Governor at the Bretton Woods Institutions, will represent the country on behalf of the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.

The Nigerian delegation will also include the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, alongside other senior government officials.

According to the World Bank, key highlights of the Annual Meetings include:

• The Development Committee Plenary Session on October 16, and
• The International Monetary and Financial Committee Meetings on October 17.

These sessions will address pressing global economic challenges, development financing, and strategies to strengthen international cooperation.

The meetings will also feature regional briefings, press conferences, and discussions focused on international development, financial stability, and the global economic outlook—areas that align with Nigeria’s ongoing economic reform agenda under the Renewed Hope Administration
