IN CHURCH BUT NOT IN TOUCH

Text: Psalm 103:7 — “He made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel.”

You can be in church and not be in touch with God. You can be looking but not actually seeing, hearing but not understanding.

Many people today attend church services faithfully, sing in the choir, serve in departments, and even pray — yet they are disconnected from the true essence of fellowship: intimacy with God.

The tragedy of religion without relationship is that one can experience the acts of God without ever knowing the God of the acts.

1. The Difference Between Moses and Israel

Moses desired to know God’s ways; Israel only wanted to see His acts.

Exodus 33:13 — “Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, show me now thy way, that I may know thee.”

Moses was in touch with God; Israel was only in church.

Israel followed miracles; Moses followed the Master.

2. The Danger of Being in Church but Not in Touch

You can be hearing but not understanding — 2 Timothy 3:7: “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

You can be praising with your mouth while your heart is far — Matthew 15:8: “These people draw near to me with their mouth... but their heart is far from me.”

You can be active in service but absent in spirit.

You can be a church worker and still lack a personal walk with God.

3. They Prefer the Gift Than the Giver

Many today only come to God for what they can get — healing, promotion, breakthrough — not for who He is.

God blesses, but His greatest gift is Himself.

When motives are wrong, worship becomes shallow.

4. True Christianity Reflects Transformation

When our lives no longer reflect Christ, we are only in church but not in touch.

2 Corinthians 3:18: “We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image.”

Being in touch with God transforms you until you begin to touch others.

Moses came down from the mountain shining (Exodus 34:29). Israel danced around a golden calf — one had communion, the other had confusion.
