UNIBEN OPENS NEW FRONTIERS OF PRACTICAL LEARNING — A CALL TO PREPARE OUR CHILDREN FOR THE FUTURE

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) has once again raised the bar in higher education with the introduction of new, skill-driven programmes beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session. Following successful verification by the National Universities Commission (NUC), UNIBEN will now offer courses such as Data Science, Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Physiotherapy, Film and Multimedia Studies, Broadcasting, Public Health, and Agricultural Economics, among others.

This development is not just an expansion of academic programmes — it’s a visionary step toward preparing a new generation of thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers. In a world where practical knowledge drives success, UNIBEN is creating a platform for students to gain hands-on experience that meets both national and global demands.

Parents and guardians must seize this opportunity to guide their children into these practical and future-oriented fields. The world is changing fast, and relevance now lies in creativity, innovation, and digital competence. Programmes like Data Science, ICT, Cyber Security, and Software Engineering will empower our young people to compete confidently in the technology-driven global economy, while Public Health, Peace and Conflict Resolution, and Development Studies build capacity for a more humane and progressive society.

UNIBEN’s expansion is a reminder that education must evolve with time — from mere theories to practical learning, from classrooms to real-world solutions. Let’s encourage our children to key into this vision and take advantage of the opportunity to build a future that is bright, competitive, and impactful.

The future is practical. The future is skill. The future begins now — at UNIBEN.
