Projecting the Projects of Honourable Engr Esosa Iyawe

 

Around October 2022, I went in company of a party member to a political gathering where experienced political strategists converged to brainstorm on ways to winning election considering the political climate at that time and the untoward strength of political underdogs.

Aside tough media benchmark for economic breakthrough of the country, bulk members of major political parties were undecided in univocal character. By this, there are two meta-fictions in a real story. First one was: winners should be ready to work, second one: workers should be ready to win again.

There was a shrug mentality that everything will be fine, Edo State will be better and Oredo Local Government Area will be the best. When in 2023 the votes came in, free, fair and credible, we knew it was nature's will. Engr. Esosa Iyawe's triumph was destined. Everything took me back to an Islamic Studies lecture I received during my undergraduate days about Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In the summer of 620 CE, the prophet came into contact with some pilgrims from Madinah. The six men he met were impressed not only by his personality but equally by his message. They quickly conclude that he might be able to help in overcoming the hostility which was then ravaging Madinah. On getting back to Madinah, they discussed their experience with others. Gradually, by word of mouth and testament of the heart, new converts came in and the movement intensified.

Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe came in with one vision; to see things change for the better. All his projects so far are consolidation of the trust strangers and friends alike poured on him, overflowing into improved zeal and heightened aspirations to do more and more. These projects particularly changed lives.

Food Bank Programme - Free varieties of uncooked food palliatives for over 4000 constituents. This programme fed the hungry for ten months systematically reducing crime rate. It also promoted brotherliness because I know of people who collected food went to their streets and gave them out. If you were resident in Oredo between the late 2023 to 2024, and you never heard of this Iyawe's food bank, may be you resided in an island with no means of communication.

Donation of over 70 Mini buses to Oredo youths. This empowerment is verifiable both offline and online. A recipient of this donation Mr C. Ubong once gave me a lift along Sapele Road. Many have since entered into direct company supply chain with the vehicle, financially empowering themselves and providing services for their customers.

Free Medical Outreach simultaneously in 3 locations, every six months for two years at strategic locations. The last one just ended in November of this year 2025. Those who couldn't afford high consultancy services and first aid treatments were offered medical services on the same professional level as can be gotten anywhere else.

Free eye surgery for over 50 constituents. These surgeries included pre and post surgery quality care for Oredo residents and beyond. Those who lost hope to seeing again received hope.

Donation of 41 computers and solar power system to New Era College. This school never ran out of power supply since then. We know that from early 19th century, science, technology, robotics and automation systems have stealthily crept into our reality. Iyawe has donated to this reality in an environment where it was most needed and will extend it across schools with Oredo Local Government Area.

Installation of over 1000 street lights at New Benin. All adjourning streets surrounding New Benin Market were invariably touched. Areas like Efehi Street, New Lagos Road, Upper Mission, Lawani Road, Costain Road, Mission Road etc.

Donation of 100 Sewing Machines and Makeup Kits to Oredo constituents. I witnessed this donation and can attest to the fact that it changed lives. I know a recipient in my ward, Mrs Elizabeth Idah who took home a sewing machine. Today these people have become masters of their crafts.

Donation of medical equipments to New Era Primary Health Care Centre. In total, 76 equipments ranging from examination couches, bed pan, metal chairs, long benches cabinets, drugs and instruments were donated.

Annual Cultural Orientation and Quiz Competition for ALL public schools in Oredo. On October 12, 2024 and November 2, 2025; gathering together secondary schools in Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Esosa Iyawe facilitated students' cultural orientation and sensitisation programme making cultural, psychological and economic socialisation possible for the children and tutors.

Annual free Jamb and WAEC registration for over 1000 students in Oredo in furtherance of Iyawe's dream for a future where the young ones of today are better visionaries for a progressive country. For the WAEC (internal exams) for the first quarter of this year alone, all 59 students the honourable sponsored came out top of their class and are now studying at various universities around the world.

Annual full university scholarship for selected indigent students in Oredo. The beneficiaries are now alleviated of financial stress so they can fully concentrate on their coursework and academic performance rather than worrying about funding or needing to work excessive hours.

Annual palliative distribution to the Muslim community in Oredo. The Benin Central Mosque and Iyaro Mosque are no strange places to the honourable who at every visit of the former is received by the Chief Imam Alhaji Abdul Fattah Enabulele. Hon. Engr. Iyawe's gestures of distributing food items (such as bags of rice), and praying for unity, peace, prosperity, and development in Oredo, aligns with his objective of ensuring the welfare of all his constituents, irrespective of religious affiliation.

Annual HIFOT; football tournament for ALL football clubs in Oredo totally free with financial compensation and exposure. Participant teams and coaching crews got the most awaited opportunity of becoming scouted and were exposed to international breakthrough.

Complete renovation and construction of blocks of 6-classrooms and toilets at Odia College, Evbodia Community. The only government primary school in the community, now also having a Junior Secondary School is the new face of a modernised school. Beyond this, the honourable kept his campaign promise - an exemplary embodiment of truth and commitment.

Facilitation of employment placement for constituents in federal ministries and agencies. This information is not hoarded at all. Hon. Engr Esosa Iyawe is ever ready to facilitate job placement for qualified indigenes as far as it is the right window. Many people have become gainfully employed in industries, organizations and government establishments.
