UBTH Advances Its CSR Mandate Through Pre-Igue Festival Medical Outreach

 

As part of our unwavering commitment to community health and inclusive service delivery, the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, in partnership with the Aiguobasinmwin Movement World-Wide, has launched a 4-Day Pre-Igue Festival Medical Outreach in honour of Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, CFR, Oba of Benin.

This year’s theme “Safeguarding Our Rich Cultural Heritage Through Quality Healthcare” underscores the profound link between a people’s wellbeing and the preservation of their cultural identity. A healthy community sustains a vibrant culture, and UBTH is proud to contribute meaningfully to this vision.

From 9th–12th December 2025, our medical team will be stationed at the Oba Palace, King Square, from 9:00 AM daily, providing free consultations, health checks, and essential screenings. Services offered include:

 • Malaria

• Diabetes & Hypertension

• Arthritis

• Peptic Ulcer

• Upper Respiratory Infections

• Common Skin Conditions

• Dental Issues

• Ophthalmology checks & free reading glasses

• General Ailments

The outreach embodies UBTH’s CSR ethos — bringing quality healthcare directly to the people, reducing access barriers, and promoting preventive care. Over the four days, our focus remains clear: to deliver compassionate service, strengthen community health, and ensure that no one is left behind.
