Beyond Political Theatrics: Hon. Osawaru’s Representation Delivers Real Gains in Orhionmwon–Uhunmwode...

In the twilight of 2022 and the dawn of 2023, through the bright and shimmering rays of the sun, the dust, the warped and bumpy roads to the nooks and crannies of the predominantly rural Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Local Government Areas of Edo State, Hon. Chief Billy Adesuwa Osawaru campaigned vigorously to be elected as a member of the Nigeria House of Representatives, bringing his "Exposure Agenda" to the doorsteps of the people at the Grassroots.

He promised effective representation, constituents' empowerment and advocacy, efficient oversight functions, and to attract meaningful and Impactful constituency projects to people. He was mindful of the enormous workload that lay before him, considering the absence of government presence in the larger parts of the federal Constituency, but was fully prepared and equipped for the challenge. Through the goodwill of the people and the endorsement of divinity, Hon. Osawaru was elected.

Fast-forward to 2026, more than midway into his first term as an honorable member representing the good people of Orhionmwon Uhunmwode federal constituency, Hon. Osawaru hasn't only lived up to expectations, but he has broken some records, raised the bar of representation, set paces, and delivered on his promises.

In his legislative, representational, and oversight duties, Hon. Osawaru has been truly outstanding. Blessed with the gift of garb and the requisite intellect, his voice has continued to resonate in the green chambers of the National Assembly, moved more than 18 motions, sponsored over 5 bills, and laid innumerable petitions on behalf of his constituents. He has also been patriotic in interrogating several systemic and institutional ills, berated numerous regressive government policies, and proferred solutions to debate, and lent his informed opinions. Through him, the hitherto obscure Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode federal constituency is now in the glow of national spotlight.

As a promise keeper, Hon. Billy Osawaru has also facilitated several need-based constituency projects evenly spread across Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode federal constituency. He has drilled over 12 solar-powered industrial boreholes across communities in the federal constituency, built three blocks of classrooms, constructed a link bridge, built roads, and built primary health centers. Hon. Osawaru has carried out several free medical outreaches, ICT trainings, distributed numerous empowerment materials, food palliatives, and agricultural/farm inputs.

The proud Benin Chief as he is fondly called have given hundreds of Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode women trading/business grants, distributed back to school materials to basic school pupils in the federal constituency, donated State of the art school furniture to selected schools in Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode, installed thousands of solar powered street lights across communities in the twin local governments, continuously graded earth roads to ease movement and promoted youth empowerment through sports.

The human empowerment intervention that is dear to the federal lawmaker's heart and most passionate about is the facilitation of numerous job placements in federal and State government agencies, paramilitary services, and international Scholarship and educational sponsorship for the teeming Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode youths. He goes the extra mile to get this done.

These are real verifiable gains of an effective representative with appreciable and tangible achievements that need consolidation. His representation has left the realms of promises but quiet delivery. "He is here, not coming". He is solid, experienced, influential, and ready to do more.
