Rivers State APC Support Groups Begin Early Campaign Drive for Tinubu, Fubara ...Inaugurates 42-man Executives

 

Support groups of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State have kickstarted early mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections, declaring strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The groups made their position known during the inauguration of newly elected officers of the South-South APC Support Group Leadership Caucus iheld at Mosy B Hall along Harbour Road, Port Harcourt on Saturday. 

The event brought together leaders and members of various APC-aligned support groups from across the state.

Speaking at the event, a chieftain of the APC support structure and National Legal Adviser of the South-South APC Support Group Leadership Caucus, Barrister Goma Kindness Ohochukwu said the early campaign was necessary to sustain political unity and ensure victory in the 2027 general elections.

According to her, the election that produced the new leaders was transparent and credible. 

She disclosed that an 11-man electoral committee, which included a university professor, carefully screened all candidates before the final 42-man list was released.

“We did thorough screening. There was no petition or appeal from anywhere. Everyone was satisfied with the process, and that is why you see unity and smiles today,” said the lawyer who doubled as the Eleco Chairperson. 

Barrister Ohochukwu who served in the defunct Presudential Campaign Council (PCC),  explained that the renewed mobilization was driven by confidence in President Tinubu’s performance in office, stressing that many supporters believe the President deserves a second term.

“The President has done well. That is why people are rallying around him again. 

Come 2027, he will be re-elected,” she said.

The APC leader also said support groups in Rivers State have been harmonized under one umbrella to avoid division and strengthen grassroots campaign efforts. 

She described the South-South APC Support Group Leadership Caucus as the apex body coordinating all APC support groups across the region.

She added that the early campaign drive would focus on grassroots mobilization, voter education, and full support for both President Tinubu and Governor Fubara in the coming elections.

Addressing the newly elected officers, Barrister Ohochukwu charged them to work together in unity and commitment.

“You must work harmoniously,

efficiently, day and night, to ensure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and continued political stability in Rivers State,” she said.

Addressing the gathering during her acceptance speech, Chairperson of the group,  Comrade Telma Chibuike Oluigbo, set a clear direction for the group, stressing mobilisation, unity, and consistent message-passing as its core mission. 

She described the gathering as a historic moment stating that support groups exist mainly to mobilise people and strengthen the party at all levels. 

She acknowledged party leaders across the state and noted that the caucus was formed to give structure and purpose to APC support groups in the South-South.

Oluigbo said the group is committed to promoting the achievements and vision of the APC, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and with the political support of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. 

She urged members to work tirelessly to spread the message of good governance, economic growth, and social justice, while engaging opponents with facts rather than insults. 

According to her, the goal is to convince the people of Rivers State and Nigeria that the APC remains a party of hope with a clear plan for development.

Fielding questions from reporters after the photo session, another member of the defunct APC Presidential Campaign Council, Hon. Sunday Chigozie, described the day's event as timely and important ahead of the next general elections. 

Chigozie, who served as a deputy chairman in the campaign structure, explained that the group was formed to mobilise grassroots support across communities for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC. 

According to him, the support group cuts across indigenes and non-indigenes, youths and elders, with the aim of strengthening the party’s presence at the grassroots level in the South-South zone.

He defended the group’s slogan, 

“Tinubu is working,” saying the president is laying a solid foundation for a better and more self-reliant Nigeria through his policies. 

He acknowledged that some policies, such as fuel subsidy removal, were difficult at the beginning but said they are already yielding results. 

Chigozie claimed that food prices, including rice, have started coming down and praised the president for initiatives such as the Dangote Refinery and efforts to improve security and promote fairness and inclusion. 

Also speaking to journalists, the Vice Chairman (Non-Indigenes) of the support group, Umar Farouk Adamu, expressed strong backing for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

Adamu said the group plans to help the president by bringing people together and working in unity to make the re-election goal a reality. 

He explained that harmonising supporters from the state and other regions will strengthen the campaign and show wide support for the president.

Adamu said President Tinubu deserves a second term based on his performance so far. According to him, the president has started many important projects and needs more time to complete them. 

He advised President Tinubu to remain focused, especially on sectors where things are not working well, and to continue improving the lives of Nigerians.

Adamu added that with continued focus and teamwork, the president can finish the work he has begun.

The event ended with renewed commitment from members to begin groundwork activities ahead of the official campaign season, signaling an early start to political engagements in Rivers State.
