A CLARION CALL ON PASTOR OSAGIE IZE-IYAMU TO JOIN THE RACE FOR THE APC 2027 EDO SOUTH SENATORIAL SEAT

Following a meticulous evaluation of the imperative to strategically align the developmental vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Edo State Government with the aspirations of the Benin Nation, the Executive Committee of the Benin National Congress has resolved to respectfully call on Pastor (Dr.) Osagie Andrew Ize-Iyamu to join the race for the 2027 Edo South Senatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This call is neither routine nor driven by the seasonal impulses that accompany electoral cycles. Rather, it is born out of a profound sense of responsibility and an unwavering commitment to safeguard the political relevance, developmental interests, and collective voice of our people at the highest levels of national governance.

For some time now, Edo South Senatorial District has grappled with a representation deficit that has neither inspired confidence nor delivered commensurate impact. The district’s presence within the national legislative space has too often lacked the force, visibility, and strategic influence required to attract and protect critical opportunities. Consequently, federal projects, constituency development prospects, and policy-driven benefits have not been secured with the consistency and vigor our people rightfully expect.

The Benin National Congress does not lend its voice lightly, nor does it make endorsements flippantly. This appeal is deliberate, considered, and anchored on the realities confronting our people at this pivotal moment. When history presents such defining crossroads, leadership must be entrusted to individuals of proven capacity, political dexterity, and credible national networks.

In our considered judgment, Pastor Osagie Andrew Ize-Iyamu embodies these qualities.

As one of the founding members of the All Progressives Congress, Pastor Ize-Iyamu is deeply grounded in the party’s evolution, philosophy, and institutional journey. He stood firm when the party’s future was uncertain, endured political storms that unsettled many, and demonstrated resilience through periods of adversity. He absorbed setbacks, forgave betrayals, and remained steadfast- not for lack of alternatives, but from a conviction that building enduring political structures demands uncommon sacrifice.

Equally notable is his restraint. Despite his credentials and contributions, he did not seek to impose himself. He offered counsel, exercised patience, and stepped back when circumstances required. Such discipline reflects maturity, character, and a deep respect for democratic processes- virtues that resonate strongly with the Benin people, who are patient yet discerning.

However, recent years have revealed troubling outcomes. Too frequently, Edo South has appeared a spectator in the national legislative arena. Interests central to the district have struggled for traction, federal opportunities have not always been optimally secured, and the oversight function- vital for translating national policy into tangible local development has lacked the necessary assertiveness. This observation is not intended as an indictment of individuals but as an honest acknowledgment of outcomes that demand correction.

At this critical juncture, Edo State is charting a renewed developmental course. The aspirations of Edo South require representation that commands respect, protects regional interests, and delivers measurable progress. The district needs a voice with gravitas, influence, credibility, and reach.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu, you have walked the path, paid the price, and earned the trust of many. The Benin Nation now calls upon you to once again place your experience, networks, and leadership at the service of the people.

This is not about ambition but about duty- the duty to restore strong and effective representation for Edo South at the highest legislative level.

Accordingly, the Benin National Congress respectfully urges you to declare your position on the 2027 Edo South Senatorial seat. Let your intention be made known with clarity and conviction, so that the people may rally with unity and purpose.

The moment demands leadership; the people await direction; history awaits its actors.
