GOVERNOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO TO BE HONORED WITH NEW TELEGRAPH GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR (EDUCATION) AWARD THIS FRIDAY

As our distinguished Governor Monday Okpebholo emerges as the Governor of the Year in Education  this weekend, let's give a comprehensive analysis of our Daddy.

"A catalyst accelerates a reaction, and a leader accelerates progress." Governor Okpebholo's administration has indeed catalyzed progress in Edo State.

Security: A Safer Edo

The government has taken bold steps to curb violence, particularly cult-related activities, by amending anti-cultism and kidnapping laws, recruiting 2,500 officers into the Edo State Security Corps, and procuring 75 Toyota Hilux vehicles and 350 motorbikes. This has led to a significant reduction in cult-related violence and kidnappings.

Healthcare: Improved Services

The administration has established the first VVF centre in the South-South region, ensuring women receive specialized maternal care. Free malaria testing and treatment are also available across government hospitals for the next two years. Additionally, health facilities are being upgraded to provide quality healthcare services.

Infrastructure: Roads and Flyovers

Major road projects are underway, including the Ramat Park flyover, aimed at easing traffic congestion in Benin City. The administration has awarded 28 new road projects covering over 255 kilometres.

Agriculture: Food Security

The government has increased the agriculture budget from N4.5 billion to over N70 billion, with over 400 hectares cultivated and harvesting underway. This aims to boost food production and reduce reliance on imports.

Education: Revitalized Schools

The administration has reversed years of decay in public schools, employing 5,000 teachers and renovating 63 schools. Ambrose Alli University's subvention has also been increased from N41 million to N500 million monthly.
