IPOB Issues Global Directive Over Nnamdi Kanu’s Medical, Legal Support
INTERNAL MEMORANDUM
FROM: COMRADE EMMA POWERFUL
TO: ALL IPOB FAMILY WORLDWIDE (DOS) , COORDINATORS, UNIT LEADERS, AND MEMBERS)
SUBJECT: GLOBAL SUPPORT INITIATIVE FOR ONYENDU MAZI NNAMDI KANU — MEDICAL & LEGAL INTERVENTION
DATE: 13 FEBRUARY 2926
CIRCULATE IMMEDIATELY
1. PURPOSE OF THIS MEMO
This communication formally notifies every member of our movement about a matter of urgent collective responsibility: the coordinated global support effort for the medical treatment and legal defence of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Prior to his sentencing on 20 November 2025, Onyendu appeared physically weakened during court appearances and personally appealed that the IPOB family worldwide should support the organisations that have consistently stood with him throughout this ordeal.
He specifically directed support toward three trusted partners:
American Veterans of Igbo Descent (AVID)
Ambassadors for Self-Determination
Rising Sun Foundation
These organisations have shouldered medical, diplomatic and legal responsibilities for years on behalf of the movement.
2. WHY THIS SUPPORT IS NOW CRITICAL
Following his punitive transfer to Sokoto prison, maintaining legal and medical access has become significantly more expensive:
All 13 principal attorneys remain Abuja-based
Lead physician Emeritus Prof. Martin Aghaji operates from Abuja
Each legal/medical visit requires costly air travel
Average return airfare per person approaches ₦500,000
The financial strain is deliberate. The global IPOB family must now neutralize it through coordinated support. IPOB fundraising will come later in the year but for now, we must support this very initiative.
3. HEALTH CONDITION OF ONYENDU
Onyendu continues to battle serious medical complications arising from his rendition ordeal, including:
Chronic potassium depletion
Congestive heart complications
Persistent tinnitus from head trauma sustained during abduction
This initiative is therefore essential to sustain both treatment and defence.
4. UNITY DIRECTIVE FROM ONYENDU
Onyendu has instructed that:
The worldwide family must rally behind this initiative
All infighting must cease immediately
Members must remain vigilant against misinformation and psychological operations
This is a moment for discipline and unity.
5. IMPORTANT STRATEGIC NOTICE
Members should be aware that a major international development will be announced next week Wednesday.
This forthcoming event will demonstrate the progress of ongoing global diplomatic engagements and confirm that the struggle has entered a decisive phase.
Every member is therefore advised to maintain focus, maturity and confidentiality ahead of this announcement.
6. EXPECTATION FROM MEMBERS
Every unit, state, country and continent must:
Circulate the fundraising information
Encourage voluntary participation
Counter misinformation calmly
Maintain discipline in all communications
Strengthen unity across all structures
7. FINAL NOTE
This period requires responsibility and coordination from all. The strength of IPOB has always been solidarity under pressure.
Let us stand firm and act as one family.
If you have any doubt, don't ask anybody because they will deceive you, visit or send someone to Sokoto prison to confer with Onyendu so he can confirm this directive himself.
Our enemies have penetrated and compromised our structural discipline from within. But Onyendu said we must remain strong and faithful to our ideals.
