“The Bourdillon Blueprint: How Strategic Generosity Sustains Political Empires”

IT TAKES MORE THAN BEING POWERFUL TO KEEP THESE MEN FOLLOWING.

Everyone thinks Tinubu's Bourdillon political dynasty is sustained by the mere fact that he's powerful.

No.

Awolowo was powerful yet Akintola neutralized him.

Zik was powerful and yet the new generation igbo politicians then neutralized him.

We saw how so many once powerful Godfathers were neutralized.

Ahmadu Bello himself couldn't keep down Aminu Kano.

So this has nothing to do with being powerful.

The Bourdillon dynasty runs on love and brotherhood just like a cartel.

Think about this .

Why are they all being too loyal even in the face of what could have provoked them into rebellion?

Even when many of them had had chances to use their positions to neutralize Tinubu, they rather decided to folløw him.

Even the ones who rebelled didn't actually go confrontational.

Osinbajo, Fashiola, Femi Gbajabiamila, etc had the opportunity to be empowered by Buhari cabal and be used to dismantle Tinubu's dynasty in Lagos.

They didn't rock the boat.

Even when some of them privately didn't like how he did somethings, they still followed him.

See this goes beyond just being a powerful man or that those guys were afraid of him.

No.

Did you see how those House of Assembly members in Lagos who removed Obasa and were determined to let it be that way changed their positions the moment he had a meeting with them in Abuja?

They came out from that meeting smiling and happy even though they didn't like the outcome.

These guys know he cares about them and their region.

He's been fair to many of them and so being fair or showing favouritism to one person is not seen as a crime when they all had been beneficiaries.

Also he showed them that keeping the beehive united is more important than enforcing a law.

They got the message.

They know he's imperfect but generous and benevolent.

They know he's unselfish and will not think twice to make any necessary sacrifices for any of them.

I remember the day Tinubu came out to say ...

"Ambode wouldn't be supported for second term" and some guys I knew in Songotedo Lagos were just coming back from that meeting they had with him or that primary.

And I remember those guys were agitating earlier that Ambode must have a second term.

But as soon as they came back from that meeting with Tinubu their positions changed.

Then I asked them, "Why are you guys supporting this man even when you didn't like what he did."

They said to me,

"Where have you seen that you lost primaries Baba called us, we ate and drank and he spoke to us that if you don't win today you can win tomorrow. He compensated some of us . Where does it happen? Me that lost primaries? See, Baba is imperfect but we prefer to follow a generous leader like baba than to follow a wicked Holy man."

That was an eye opener and that's the secret of Tinubu's influence and unusual loyalty in Lagos .

Don't envy the man if you don't have the heart to be everybody's daddy just like him.

Ask yourself.

Ambode was removed from power but no one is making him look like an outcast.

Remember what Tinubu said the day Ambode came for this outing in this picture?

He said, "Akin, thank you for coming. Very good...very good"

Because he expected him to continue to associate with the family inspite of the issues.

Forget o.

So many people want to be Godfathers but not many have the heart to be everybody's daddy.
