A LAND WHERE EVERY ATTEMPT TO STRANGLE EQUITY, JUSTICE AND FAIRNESS CAN NO LONGER HOLD
Representing a Constituency cutting across two kingdoms from WARD-6 to WARD-11, of ESAN N.E in Edo State House of Assembly, is a serious business. It is saddled with the lives, future and survival of a large number of men and women, boys and girls, and the yet unborn who are the FUTURE LEADERS OF TOMORROW. It involves their education, health, employment, improvement in agricultural, infrastructural, social amenities, environment, commerce and industry etc.
Such a herculean task MUST not be left in the hands of those who treat it with LEVITY and are IMPULSIVE in decision making, but saddled on those who are METICULOUS, STABLE MINDED, DEPENDABLE, ANALYTICAL and PRUDENT in their decision and management of material and human resources.
We may have ignored the letter of withdrawal from the House of Assembly race of Constituency II by Mr. Lucky AREBUN and his alleged return back to the race. This unwholesome development making caricature of the electoral process of Constituency II cannot be ignored because:
1. It is now a public document, having been sent to the leaders, published on all platforms and social media. As a public document, the letter of withdrawal and all its associated pictorial evidence with some leaders is free for all and can be subjected to critical appraisal, questioning, analysis, derogation, interrogation, debate or blame by any individual or group.
2. We are an interested party in the electoral process, Dr. Mike Eigbemekhe is also in the race in a process that now tends to be ridiculed.
3. Interest of the public is also our concern, who reserve every right to be fully informed of the political happenings in Constituency II of Esan North East LGA.
It is on record and in the public domain that sometime ago, one of the aspirants, Mr. Lucky AREBUN, wrote an official letter of withdrawal from the Edo State House of Assembly, Constituency II race, stating that he has decided to support Barr. Mrs. Maria-Edeko. Such a letter, with pictorial evidence of some leaders, was circulated to all social media networks and also officially submitted to our APC party leaders. Most of the leaders congratulated the withdrawn aspirant on our APC leaders’ platform.
However, in a TWIST OF EVENT, the said candidate Mr. Lucky AREBUN is now said to be in the race again. WHAT ARE THE POLITICAL AND LEGAL IMPLICATIONS OF THIS?
It is NOTEWORTHY that with that FORMAL LETTER OF WITHDRAWAL, sent to the leaders through whichever medium and also in the public domain, every former declaration, consultation and his further participation in any related activities in relation to the 2026 primaries and 2027 general election on the platform of APC is now NULL AND VOID.
First, there are some PERTINENT QUESTIONS that must be asked:
1. Has the political issue of Constituency II of Esan North East LGA become so infinitesimal that one can join, officially withdraw and again rejoin like a domestic love affair where an unreliable lover can quit and reconcile at any time?
2. By declaring to step down for another candidate, Barr. Mrs. Maria-Edeko, Mr. Lucky AREBUN has already impliedly told the good people of Constituency II that she has better programmes of action and is more qualified than him. Now, has he suddenly discovered any skeleton that made him feel that his initial assessment of her was wrong?
3. Can he tell the good people of Constituency II his later discoveries and findings that made him withdraw his support for her, so that our people can make a good choice?
4. Can Mr. Lucky AREBUN ever be trusted again by Mrs. Maria-Edeko?
5. Has his action not ridiculed the highly respected leaders of APC who were party to their withdrawal negotiation process as depicted by the pictorial evidence he displayed?
6. Will he be able to sustain the confidence of Constituency II, other APC leaders of E.N.E LGA, and His Excellency, Senator Monday OKPEBHOLO?
7. Will the APC party and its leaders or the entire people of Constituency II see him again as RELIABLE, STABLE MINDED, DEPENDABLE and TRUSTWORTHY to fulfil his electoral promises and adhere to his promises of ALLEGIANCE AND LOYALTY to our executive governor and the APC party?
8. Has the withdrawn aspirant, Mr. Lucky AREBUN, suddenly discovered that the candidate of his choice, Mrs. Maria-Edeko, is not worth his support, trust and loyalty or that she is not the fit-and-proper person to return to the House of Assembly again in this administration of Sen. Monday OKPEBHOLO?
These are all questions that our electorates are waiting for answers to.
We therefore wish to state UNEQUIVOCALLY that we frown at all these MARADONA-TYPE POLITICS, which is a calculated last effort to rob Constituency II of the MOST ELIGIBLE candidate, who is DR. MIKE EIGBEMEKHE. It is also an orchestrated political machination intended to perpetually SHORTCHANGE, SUBJUGATE AND STRANGULATE the political survival of the masses, who needed a MESSIAH and courageously VOTED OVERWHELMINGLY for SEN. MONDAY OKPEBHOLO.
# Dr. Mike Eigbemekhe is the MOST RELIABLE CHOICE for the Edo State House of Assembly, Constituency II of Esan North East LGA.
# He is the MOST EDUCATED OF THEM ALL.
# He is the ONLY CANDIDATE that not only worked for the APC but was able to DELIVER HIS WARD for SENATOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO.
# He is also favoured by EQUITY, FAIRNESS AND JUSTICE, being from the ONLY WARD that has NEVER PRODUCED any elective seat.
