AN OPEN LETTER TO Rt. Honourable Patrick Aisowieren : Dear Honourable Aisowieren,

I write to you as a concerned citizen of Uhunmwonde Local Government, one who has watched your political journey over the years with keen interest and, at one point, admiration.

You have been privileged to serve at multiple levels of leadership,as a two-term councillor in Orhionmwon Legislative Council a two-term member of the Edo State House of Assembly, and a two-term member of the House of Representatives for the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency. These are not small achievements. They are opportunities many only dream of opportunities to impact lives, shape policies, and leave a lasting legacy.

It is therefore deeply disappointing to witness you now engage in partisan politics in a manner that undermines the very principles of leadership you once represented. As someone who has tested leadership at the highest levels, one would expect you to rise above divisive rhetoric and instead act as a father figure to all guiding, mentoring, and promoting unity.

Rather than fostering issue-based campaigns, your recent statements appear to lean toward personal attacks, including questioning the educational credentials of another candidate who has already met the constitutional requirements to contest. This approach does not elevate our political space; it diminishes it. Leadership should inspire growth, not breed unnecessary conflict.

Even more concerning is the growing sentiment among the people regarding your years in office over two decades of public service, yet many struggle to point to significant, lasting projects tied directly to your name. For instance, the borehole project attributed to you is reportedly non-functional, barely serving the purpose it was commissioned for. This raises questions about the sustainability and quality of such interventions.

During your time in the House of Representatives, many constituents also find it difficult to recall impactful bills or legislative contributions that significantly affected either the constituency or the nation at large. This stands in contrast to figures like Rt. Hon Dr Samson Osagie, Rt. Hon. Dr Pius Odubu, and currently chief Dr. Billy Osawaru , whose efforts have been more visibly felt.

Your current approach brings to mind the words of our Lord Jesus Christ — that one should first remove the log in their own eye before attempting to remove the speck in another’s. It is a call to self-reflection, humility, and accountability a virtues that true leaders must embody.

At this critical time, what the people of Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde desire is not political hostility or the sharing of money as a means of influence, but a new culture of politics , one rooted in ideas, development, transparency, and genuine service.

Therefore, sir, we respectfully urge you to shift the narrative. Tell us about your achievements. Present your contributions. Lead by example. Help educate the people on the importance of issue-based politics rather than personal attacks.

Our community deserves better. Our democracy demands better.

Yours sincerely,

A Concerned Citizen of Uhunmwonde Local Government
