Three Years, Unmatched Impact: Hon. Osawaru Redefines Legislation, Oversight, and Representation At The Green Chambers Of The National Assembly.
Seated in the Green Chamber of the 10th National Assembly, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru serves as Chairman, House Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa and Vice Chairman, Committee on Poverty Alleviation. Due to his vibrancy, experience, intellectual depth, and vocal power, he is a beautiful bride that all Committee Chairmen/Chairpersons want in their committees. Hence, he sits as a member of over 25 House committees, ranging from oil and gas, to public finance, health, host communities, malaria prevention, interior, public accounts, and others too numerous to mention here.
He is not just a numeric value to these committees but a vibrant, articulate, and intellectual contributor to oversight issues, bringing insight, clarity, and interrogation to the systemic loops in the conduct of government business. His patriotism and passion for the Nigerian State have seen him come hard on several heads of ministries, departments, and agencies of government. He has repeatedly questioned institutional gaps that have made public service delivery unproductive, while proffering globally acceptable best practices aimed at moving the nation forward.
Legislatively, Hon. Osawaru has moved more than 20 motions, sponsored over five bills, and tended numerous petitions that seek to address systemic challenges facing his constituents, Senatorial district, Edo State, and the Nation at Large.
Known as “The Proud Benin Chief,” he has ensured that Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode is no longer underrepresented, using oversight and legislative tools to attract federal attention, zonal intervention projects, and social amenities to communities long neglected. He is in touch with the people as he spends virtually all weekends in his constituency, interacting with the people and feeling their pulse, listening to their demands and channelling them into motions, petitions, and bills.
When a first timer can be this vibrant, just imagine what he would bring to the table when he becomes a ranking member and probably, one of the principal officers in the 11th House of Representatives.
