The Honourable Member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, and Chairman of the House Committee on Cooperation and Integration in Africa, Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, has provided insight into the rationale behind the dismissal of petitions filed against Tantita Security Network.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Television Continental (TVC), Hon. Osawaru explained that the decision of the House was guided by both performance evidence and procedural considerations.

He noted that the private security firm, tasked with pipeline surveillance in the Niger Delta region, has demonstrated commendable effectiveness in safeguarding the nation’s oil infrastructure. According to him, the deployment of advanced, high-tech security systems alongside strategic collaboration with the Nigerian Navy has led to a significant improvement in crude oil production, with output nearing two million barrels per day. He added that "If it's not broken, why fix it?"

As a member of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream), Hon. Osawaru emphasized that the Committee found no compelling justification to act on the petitions. He pointed out that the petitioners failed to appear before the House to substantiate their claims, which is a critical procedural requirement.

In parliamentary practice, allegations must be backed by evidence. He further explained that, in the absence of verifiable claims and given the demonstrable success of Tantita Security Network, the House reached a considered decision to dismiss the petitions.

Beyond the issue, Hon. Osawaru also offered broader insights into the workings of the House of Representatives, the dynamics of party politics, and the importance of prioritizing national interest in legislative decision-making.
