The member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru, has commended the visionary leadership of the Edo State Governor, His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, describing his administration as a shining example of purposeful governance, excellence, and impactful leadership.
In a tribute, Hon. Osawaru praised Governor Okpebholo's commitment to development, noting that his administration has consistently demonstrated a results-driven approach anchored on innovation, diligence, and a refusal to settle for mediocrity. According to the federal lawmaker, the governor's leadership transcends political rhetoric, manifesting instead in tangible projects, bold policy decisions, and meaningful interventions that directly improve the lives of Edo people.
Hon. Osawaru particularly highlighted the Governor's practical love for education, which has led to numerous massive investments in the State's primary, secondary, technical, and tertiary institutions, especially in the areas of infrastructural upgrades, the employment of qualified educators, and partnership with the private sector. With specific reference to the massive subvention boost to Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma (AAU), and the continuous investment in the Edo State University, Iyamho, Hon. Osawaru noted that these are testimonials of Governor Okpebholo's commitment to advancing education and human capital development in Edo State.
As part of this commitment, the state government recently pledged the sum of ₦2 billion in support of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adetimirin's initiative on the institution's infrastructural development, alongside the provision of two Toyota Hiace buses and two CNG-powered buses. Hon. Osawaru noted that the intervention is a solid investment in infrastructure, knowledge, innovation, mobility, and the future of Edo State's next generation.
The federal lawmaker also acknowledged the role of Zenith Bank Plc as a progressive partner, commending the financial institution for its support and contribution to the development agenda, stressing that the bank's longstanding reputation for excellence, stability, and service delivery complements the governor's vision of building a prosperous Edo State.
According to Hon. Osawaru, the collaboration between government, academia, and the corporate sector provides a strong foundation for sustainable growth and development. He emphasized that when institutions unite around a shared vision of progress, the benefits extend far beyond the immediate stakeholders, creating lasting opportunities for students in the academic communities and future generations.
