FOGOCOM Commends President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, Highlights Significant Progress in Nigeria's Tertiary Education Sector

The Forum of Governing Council Members in Nigeria Tertiary Institutions (FOGOCOM) has expressed profound appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the remarkable strides recorded under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in the advancement of Nigeria's tertiary education sector.
This position was conveyed during the Forum's National Press Conference held in Abuja, where members from tertiary institutions across the country convened to review developments within the education sector and assess the impact of the Federal Government's ongoing reforms.
Addressing journalists, the National Chairman of FOGOCOM, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Babajide Akin-Thomas, commended President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to repositioning education as a critical pillar for national development. He noted that the administration's strategic interventions have resulted in measurable improvements in institutional governance, infrastructure development, funding support, academic excellence, and access to quality education.
According to the Forum, the Renewed Hope Agenda has introduced transformative policies that are strengthening the operational efficiency and capacity of federal tertiary institutions, while fostering an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research, innovation, and human capital development.
FOGOCOM further acknowledged the Federal Government's commitment to expanding educational opportunities through student-centered initiatives and targeted investments aimed at improving the overall quality and competitiveness of Nigeria's higher education system.
The Forum also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the recent review and enhancement of the allowances of Governing Council members nationwide. FOGOCOM described the gesture as a thoughtful recognition of the invaluable contributions of Governing Councils to the effective administration, policy direction, and sustainable growth of tertiary institutions.
Members observed that the Renewed Hope Agenda has restored confidence among stakeholders in the education sector and established a solid framework for long-term institutional development and national progress.
While reaffirming its commitment to supporting policies and programmes that promote excellence in tertiary education, FOGOCOM called on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration's efforts towards nation-building, educational transformation, and socio-economic development.
The Forum concluded the conference with a resounding vote of confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's leadership and reaffirmed its readiness to collaborate with government agencies, educational stakeholders, and development partners in advancing the growth and global competitiveness of Nigeria's tertiary education system.
