PUBLIC DISCLAIMER

We act as Solicitors to Dr. Eweka Egie, a resident of Benin City, Edo State. Acting on his firm instructions, we hereby draw the attention of the general public to the false and misleading publication being circulated by one Curtis Eghosa Ugbo, a self-styled social media blogger, alleging that our Client was invited by the Police in connection with an alleged false declaration of results in the recently concluded APC National Assembly Primaries conducted across the Federation, including Edo State.

Despite the complete falsity of these allegations, the said Curtis Eghosa Ugbo published and circulated the misinformation with remarkable audacity and without any form of verification. His actions have created a wrong impression in the minds of members of the public who know our Client as a responsible and law-abiding citizen, prompting numerous enquiries from concerned persons.

For the purpose of setting the record straight and debunking these spurious allegations, we state categorically on behalf of our Client that, as of the date of the said publication, our Client was neither arrested nor undergoing interrogation by the Police. Furthermore, he has not received any invitation, summons, or official communication from any Police authority in relation to the allegations being circulated.

Accordingly, the general public is advised to disregard this false narrative and deliberate misinformation being propagated by Curtis Eghosa Ugbo. His publication is unfounded, misleading, and clearly intended to misinform the public while attempting to tarnish the reputation and integrity of our Client.

For the avoidance of doubt, and without conceding the existence of any such allegations, our Client has instructed us to state that, should any lawful invitation or request arise from any duly constituted authority regarding any matter whatsoever, he remains a law-abiding citizen who respects due process and the rule of law and will readily make himself available to respond appropriately.

We therefore caution Curtis Eghosa Ugbo to desist forthwith from publishing, circulating, or promoting false, defamatory, and unverified information concerning our Client. We also advise media platforms, bloggers, associates, and members of the public to refrain from disseminating such falsehoods.

Our Client expressly reserves the right to pursue all available legal remedies against any person or group involved in the publication, circulation, or endorsement of defamatory and misleading content concerning him.

For public enlightenment, it should be noted that the publication of false information through social media and other electronic platforms may constitute offences including cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and related offences under the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015, for which offenders may be liable to investigation, arrest, and prosecution under the law.
