 SDGs Office Explores Partnership with Chinese Medical Firm on Strengthening Maternal Healthcare

The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Sally Suleiman, has held a strategic meeting in Abuja with representatives of the Comen Medical Instruments Company Ltd. on exploring partnership opportunities aimed at strengthening maternal, newborn and child healthcare in the State.

The engagement focused on advancing SDG ‘3’ (Good Health and Well-being) through improved access to modern medical technologies and equipment capable of enhancing healthcare delivery across the State. It also underscored the Edo State Government's commitment to leveraging strategic partnerships to accelerate sustainable development in alignment with the healthcare priorities of the Sen. Monday Okpebholo's SHINE Agenda.

Comen Medical Instruments as one of China's leading medical device manufacturers, is globally recognised for producing advanced patient monitoring, diagnostic, life-support, as well as maternal and neonatal healthcare technologies used in healthcare institutions across the world.

At the engagement, the Company's delegation, led by its International Regional Sales Managers for West Africa, Edison Sun and Jeremih Odey, assured the Company's commitment to advancing healthcare through innovative medical technologies and solutions. He said the Company remains dedicated to partnering with governments and institutions to strengthen health systems, improve patient outcomes, and expand access to quality healthcare. He expressed optimism about the prospects of collaborating with the Edo State Government to improve maternal, newborn and child health services.

Odey reiterated the Company's commitment to fostering sustainable partnerships that support healthcare development and build more resilient health systems through innovation and technology.

The Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals expressed optimism that the engagement would pave way for impactful initiatives capable of strengthening healthcare delivery and improving health outcomes for women, newborns and children across Edo State.Discussions centred on areas of mutual interest, with both parties exploring opportunities for collaboration to improve maternal, newborn and child healthcare in Edo State while contributing to the achievement
