TRANSPARENCY IN ACTION: EDO COMMISSIONERS SHOWCASE PROGRESS, ACCOUNTABILITY AND IMPACT ACROSS KEY SECTORS

 The Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Information and Strategy in Edo State Hon. Kassim Afegbua, alongside the Managing Director of Edo Geographical Information System (GIS) and the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, recently held their monthly press briefing to update the public on the progress and achievements of their respective ministries.


The press briefing was a platform for the commissioners to highlight the various initiatives and projects that have been implemented by their ministries in the past month. It was also an opportunity for them to address any concerns or issues raised by the media and the public.


The Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Information and Strategy, in his opening remarks, emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in governance. He stated that the monthly press briefing was a way to keep the public informed about the activities of the ministry and to ensure that the government remains accountable to the people.


The Managing Director of Edo GIS, in his presentation, highlighted the significant achievements of the agency in the past month. He mentioned the successful completion of the digital mapping of the state, which has greatly improved the accuracy and efficiency of land documentation and property registration. He also spoke about the implementation of the Edo State Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), which has provided a platform for the integration of various data sources and improved decision-making processes.


The Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, in her address, recounted the various programs and initiatives that have been implemented by the ministry to promote the welfare and empowerment of women and vulnerable groups in the state. She mentioned the launch of the Edo Women Empowerment Program, which provides training and support for women entrepreneurs, as well as the establishment of safe houses for victims of domestic violence.


The commissioners also took the opportunity to address some of the challenges faced by their ministries and the steps being taken to address them. They assured the public that the government is committed to delivering on its promises and improving the lives of the people of Edo State.


The press briefing was well-received by the media and the public, who appreciated the transparency and accountability demonstrated by the commissioners.
