The Honourable Member representing the good people of Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, alongside members of his team, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Edo State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Washington Osifo, at his office.
The visit provided an opportunity for the two distinguished political leaders, who are proud sons of Uhunmwode and among Edo South's finest, to interact and deliberate on issues of mutual interest. Their discussions centred on the need to strengthen unity, promote cohesion, deepen political cooperation, and advance the collective progress of the party, Uhunmwode Local Government, Edo State, and the nation at large.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Osawaru described Hon. Washington Osifo as a man for whom he has immense respect. He explained that he considered it important to personally visit and felicitate with him following his inauguration and official resumption of duties as the Edo State Commissioner for Education.
While congratulating the Commissioner, Hon. Osawaru noted that the Ministry of Education is a familiar terrain for Hon. Osifo, having previously served in the same capacity many years ago. He expressed confidence that, given Hon. Osifo's vast experience, intellectual capacity, and years of public service, the education sector in Edo State would witness remarkable transformation for the benefit of the people.
In his response, Hon. Washington Osifo spoke warmly and eloquently about the positive contributions of Hon. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru to the development of the constituency and the advancement of the people. Appreciating the federal legislator and his entourage for the visit, Hon. Osifo emphasised the need for sons and daughters of Uhunmwode to continue to work together in unity and harmony. He also highlighted some achievements recorded and expressed optimism that greater collaboration would further advance the developmental aspirations of Uhunmwode and Edo State as a whole.
Beyond the serious discussions, the visit was lively, warm, and light-hearted, filled with jokes, laughter, hearty handshakes, warm embraces, and memorable moments. Indeed, the atmosphere reflected the spirit of brotherhood and demonstrated the enduring values of reconciliation, peace, unity, and oneness.
