HON. BILLY OSAWARU CONGRATULATES 18 EDO LG CHAIRMEN, CHARGES THEM TO MAKE GRASSROOTS DEVELOPMENT THEIR PRIORITY

....Special congratulations to Uhunmwode and Orhionmwon Chairmen, Hon. Austin Imafidon, and Hon. Thompson Osagie.

The Honourable Member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Adesuwa Osawaru, has congratulated the newly sworn-in Chairmen of the 18 Local Government Areas of Edo State, describing their inauguration as a significant step towards strengthening grassroots governance and bringing government closer to the people.

Hon. Osawaru extends his special congratulations to the Chairmen of Uhunmwode Local Government Area, Mr. Austin Imafidon, and that of Orhionmwon Local Government Area, Hon. Thompson Osagie, on their assumption of office, expressing confidence that their administration will bring responsive leadership, meaningful development and renewed attention to the needs of the people of Uhunmwonde and Orhionmwon.

The federal lawmaker also commended His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State, for his commitment to strengthening governance at the grassroots and ensuring that elected Local Government leadership is given the opportunity to serve the people directly.

While congratulating the 18 local government Chairmen, Hon. Osawaru charged them to see their new positions not merely as political offices, but as a call to service and a responsibility to the people.

He urged them to prioritize projects and programmes that directly improve the lives of their constituents, particularly in the areas of roads, healthcare, education, sanitation, security, water supply, youth empowerment, agriculture and local economic development.

According to him, the success of any government is ultimately measured by the difference it makes in the lives of ordinary citizens.

“Government is about the people. Leadership at the grassroots must therefore be felt at the grassroots. Our people should be able to see, experience and testify to the impact of government in their communities.”

Hon. Osawaru further called on the Chairmen to embrace inclusive leadership, transparency, accountability and regular engagement with their communities, stressing that effective governance must be built on listening to the people and responding to their genuine needs.

As the new Local Government administrations commence their tenure, Hon. Osawaru wishes all 18 Chairmen wisdom, strength, and a successful tenure in office, while expressing hope that their leadership will usher in a new chapter of grassroots development and renewed confidence in local governance across Edo State.

Congratulations to all our newly sworn-in Local Government Chairmen.
