Uhunmwode Council Chairman Presents 2025 Budget Estimate To Legislative Arm
Christened, "Budget Of Restoration; A New Dawn". (Charting a Course for Growth, Renewal, and People-Centered Development)
In a historic address to the Legislative Arm of Uhunmwode Local Government Area, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Iredia Benjamin Osa, formally presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill, titled “Budget of Restoration: A New Dawn.”
With firm resolve and optimism, the Chairman outlined a comprehensive financial plan aimed at rejuvenating key sectors, uplifting communities, and delivering sustainable development across the LGA.
"It is with great honor and deep responsibility that I present this budget. It embodies our collective commitment to restoring progress, strengthening our institutions, and securing a prosperous future for Uhunmwode,” he stated.
Presenting a Total Budget Estimate:₦5,914,709,229.19 (Five Billion, Nine Hundred and Fourteen Million, Seven Hundred and Nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty-Nine Naira, Nineteen Kobo), Hon. Iredia noted that the 2025 budget has been strategically allocated to cover the following;;
* Capital Projects
* Recurrent Expenditures
* Cash Flow & Liquidity Management
It also reflects a targeted approach to development with investment in critical sectors that promise tangible impact and these include
* Agriculture: Empowering local farmers, enhancing food security, and promoting agribusiness.
* Security: Strengthening community policing and public safety.
* Education: Improving school infrastructure and capacity through teacher training and resources.
* Infrastructure: Upgrading roads, water systems, electricity, and public facilities.
* Revenue Generation: Enhancing IGR through innovative strategies and economic empowerment.
* Social Development: Supporting women, youth, and vulnerable groups through inclusive programs.
Speaking further, Hon. Iredia emphasized that the proposed budget was crafted in response to the voices and expectations of the people of Uhunmwode; hence, it's a people-driven budget.
“This is not just a budget, it is a promise to our people. It represents bold steps toward transforming Uhunmwode into a model of inclusive governance and meaningful development,” he said.
The Council boss also reaffirmed his alignment with the vision of the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, noting that the budget reflects broader state-wide goals for growth, peace, and accountability.
Hon. Iredia concluded by humbly calling on the Legislative arm to swiftly deliberate on the budget pass it into law for the benefit of the people. He expressed confidence in the unity of purpose between the executive and legislative arms, stressing the fact that "Together, we can usher in a new era of progress for Uhunmwode. This is our moment. Let us rise to it.”
