𝗖𝗠𝗗 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗦 𝗙𝗔𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗬, 𝗙𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗟-𝗪𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞𝗦𝗚𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗘
Sunday, 24th August 2025, will remain a memorable day in the life of Professor (Mrs.) Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu, newly appointed Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH). On this remarkable day, she led her family, friends, and a host of dignitaries in a colorful thanksgiving service to God, celebrating her historic appointment.
The service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Soul Winners Assembly, headquarters of Edo province 16. The church auditorium was filled to capacity, with many more overflowing outside, all eager to share in the moment of thanksgiving. The atmosphere was electrifying , marked by heartfelt singing, jubilant dancing, and expressions of sincere appreciation to God for His manifold blessings. The CMD, glowing with joy and accompanied by her supportive husband, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, was visibly radiant as she led the congregation in worship, dancing and singing to the glory of God.
The Guest Minister, Pastor (Prof.) Leslie Dabur, preached an inspiring message titled “From Glory to Glory.” His sermon reminded all present that every elevation comes by divine grace, and he charged the congregation to continue to place God at the center of their personal and professional journeys.
The thanksgiving proper was a spectacle of jubilation. The roll call of distinguished guests underscored the significance of the occasion. Among those present were Senator Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State; Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly; Hon. Osamwonyi Evbaguehita Atu, Deputy Speaker; Emperor Jarrett Tenebe; representatives of the Office of the First Lady of Edo State; Hon. Justice and Prof. (Mrs.) Otabor Olubor; Senator Matthew Urhoghide; and prominent business mogul, Chief Limon Ikpea, alongside other eminent personalities from politics, academia, business, and the community.
In her remarks, Prof. Ize-Iyamu expressed profound gratitude to God for His mercies, faithfulness, and divine providence. She testified of God’s unwavering presence throughout her career and acknowledged that her elevation to the exalted office of CMD was nothing short of divine orchestration. She further appreciated her family, mentors, colleagues, and all who had stood by her throughout her journey.
The vote of thanks was gracefully delivered by her husband, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who thanked God for the new chapter in their lives. He also extended appreciation to all the dignitaries, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers who turned out in their numbers to honor the occasion despite other engagements.
Prof. (Mrs.) Idia Nibokun Ize-Iyamu’s appointment marks a watershed in the history of UBTH. She is the first female to serve as Chief Medical Director since the hospital’s inception, and also the first dentist to be entrusted with this noble responsibility. Her emergence is not only a testament to her professional excellence and dedication but also a beacon of inspiration to women and young professionals everywhere.
The thanksgiving service was a declaration of faith, a testimony of grace, and a rallying point for the UBTH family and the wider community.
