 ORHIONMWON: Once Again for the Wrong Reasons 

.........Hon.Billy Adesuwa Osawaru Effectiveness vs Power Politics

In most cases, politics can be too cruel and mischievous,so much so that integrity, humanity and morals are threw in the wind just to achieve selfish goals.

Recently,it has been a sponsored political calumny against the incumbent Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde federal representative,Chief Billy Adesuwa Osawaru.One would expect a JUST reason for the social media incessant and unpleasant attacks but just like every other political bickering rapped in ego and instability, selfishness will always override competence and credits/merits.

Unfortunately but the sad reality,many of our youths are the pawns used by these political demagogues,who feels they must usually be the sole determiner on who gets what at what time and at what price.

A leader who seek support by appealing to the desires and prejudices of ordinary people rather than applying rational arguments is a political demagogue.The call by some group of people to replace Hon. Osawaru is a bitter struggle marked by calumny and irrational litigation.

Most of our Orhionmwon youths have become pawns in the game of power politics.Pawns in a political strategic maneuverings, seeking power control and influence by some indigent leaders,whereas 

the duty of youth is to "challenge corruption." according to Kurt Cobain.And Napoleon emphatically declared that the reason most people fail is that they trade what they want most for what they need at the moment - stomach infrastructure.

It's very reasonable and politically approved to replace a sitting legislator for incompetence,high headedness or any other related offenses but it beats all logical reasonings seeing some people making a move to replace one of the best Representatives Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde has ever produced since 1999.This scheming is unholy and unachievable.

Chief Billy Adesuwa Osawaru rolls in the class of former Rep members like Rt. Hon.Samson Osagie and Rt.Hon.Patrick Obahiagbon.Whose voice is never unheard and neither a bench warmer.

A legislator is to debate,initiate policy,raise motions and serve the interest of his/her geographical area ( constituent).

Let me define what a legislature means.A legislature is the law-making branch of government,an assembly of elected representatives (legislators) with the authority to create, amend, and repeal laws for a nation or state,distinct from the executive,which enforces the laws and judiciary which interprets laws.Its key functions include but not limited to passing laws,approving budgets,overseeing government actions (oversight),and representing the will of the people.And also to safeguard the constitution and sometimes confirming appointments, ratifying treaties while ensuring accountability and transparency,all aimed at good governance.

Some of the inherent qualities of a good legislator includes strong ethics,deep policy knowledge, excellent communication skills, approachable, persuasive, diligent, empathy and a huge sense of problems -solving.

Unless I am corrected,Chief Hon. Billy Osawaru has within his first tenure in office mastered all of these and has demonstrated sound advocacy and astute representation.

An ineffective legislator is one who fails to translate constituent needs into policy, lacking legislative process arrangement,low Bills passage,poor or lack of engagement, can't effectively and adequately champion constituents' issues into tangible policy changes.

If you are not agitating for the replacement of Hon. Billy Osawaru based on sound philosophical and rational arguments derived from marked or justifiable ineffectiveness,then you are a political troublemaker, stirring up unneeded conflicts that is capable of disrupting established systems.

As a leader,if you want to address deep-seated discontent,there are better and matured ways of doing that and not by applying populist method through labeling to cause disruptive impact on traditional politics.

Let it be on sound notice that Dr.Washington Osifo is great,sound and laced with intelligence.No discerning mind in a fair political atmosphere will turn him down.He has more than enough credentials and personality to represent us at the national level, even in the Senate.But for now Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde has a sound representative,he should be allowed to complete his tenures.

I remember vividly,about three years ago when Hon. Osifo signified interest for this same House of Representative,the very people calling for the replacement of Hon Billy now were same people led by their leader to reject Hon.Osifo,the rejection was brutal and personal but Hon.Osifo was able to maturely and intelligently dosed off the tension that day. I can remember also that I confronted one of the aides of this leader on the rejection of Hon.Osifo but he told me that Hon. Osifo is arrogant and filled with pride.I immediately shut him up to accept the common know fact that his master was scared of the potential and credentials of Hon. Osifo.Hasn't that fact been established now?

The call to replace Hon. Billy Osawaru is a personal issue and not the concern nor in the interest of our collective good.

There are two notable models use in measuring legislative effectiveness,and they are: Scholars Use Models and Metrics. The Scholar Use Models - like the Volden & Wiseman's LES,is use to access a legislator ability to advance agendas, placing personal skills and institutional roles in focus, while the Metrics model focuses on Bill sponsorship, committee activity and successful law enactment.

It's therefore sad that in a polarized age or era,where reasoned debate and ideological splits matters to the Gen -z globally,our Orhionmwon youths are been used to massage the ego of some unruly political elites.What a shame!

With all due respect to Hon.Washington Osifo, it's not time for this unnecessary battle, don't allow anybody to use you to settle their personal scores.You'll sure have your better days in politics and government.

If there is any reasonable or established fact for ineffectiveness on the part of Hon.Osawaru let's those agitating for his replacement show proofs now or forever remain silent.

National House of assemblies are quiet different from local government,which is primarily designed for training of potential national leaders,the national House needs continuity and consolidation on what is already achieved or ongoing.Sending a first timer every four year to the national Assembly is a behemoth mistake.

Besides, there's an unwritten document between the two sisters' local governments ( Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde) on political rotation every 8 years.Now that Hon.Osawaru is spending his first tenure,are you people seeking for his replacement just for the only one tenure left or an attempt to jettison the gentlemanly agreements between the two local governments? 

This political calculation is too childish and self-serving.It exposes the heinous and ignoble minds of those behind this ungodly scheming.

Orhionmwon,stop mediocre politics,learn to accept intelligence, competence and merits over favori

tism and jingoism.
