THE HOUR OF DECISION: ENEPA CALLS FOR EQUITY IN ESAN NORTH EAST CONSTITUENCY II ASSEMBLY RACE, EULOGISES GOVERNOR OKPEBHOLO

 

We, The Esan North East Progressive Alliance ENEPA,  have watched with deep concern and misgivings,  the unfolding developments surrounding the Constituency II seat of the House of Assembly in Esan North East LGA.

It is on record that just weeks ago, news filtered across party lines of an anointed consensus candidate of our great party, APC, for the House of Assembly seat, Constituency II, ENE LGA.

However, in a rather disturbing twist, within the same period of the Easter celebrations, another wave of information emerged—announcing yet another “approved” candidate for the same Constituency II seat in the Edo State House of Assembly. This development, allegedly tied to Easter visitations, has further deepened the confusion and raised fundamental questions.

These glaring inconsistencies—two supposedly anointed candidates for one position within a span of barely two weeks—have cast serious doubts on the authenticity and credibility of such claims. We view this as a calculated attempt to undermine equity, distort internal party democracy, and sideline those perceived as political “orphans” without privileged access to the corridors of power. One is compelled to ask: what criteria truly determines these endorsements?

It is, however, firmly established that His Excellency, SENATOR MONDAY OKPEBHOLO, is very meticulous, not a leader given to whimsical decisions. Rather, he is a stable-minded administrator, resolutely committed to fostering an egalitarian system anchored on justice, fairness, inclusivity, and equal opportunity—irrespective of ethnicity, religion, majority or minority status.  He cannot and will not sacrifice justice, party loyalty, dedication, or the collective interest of those who stood firm for his emergence, on the altar of sentiment for individuals who openly worked against his aspiration—questioning his fitness to govern a State.

We therefore repose full confidence in his wisdom, depth of judgment, and sense of fairness and equity when he eventually makes his position known.

We remain optimistic that equity will prevail and that Dr. Mike Eigbemehke will ultimately emerge as the rightful candidate of our great party, APC.

We commend those aspirants who have already  shown respect for equity and political inclusivity by stepping down. For those who are yet to do so, let it be clearly stated that  the suppression of equity and the denial of rightful representation to the grassroots is not a mark of strength, but a dangerous precedent. Integrity demands that they do the needful and step down as well.

As we approach 2027, we remain steadfast in our expectation of impacful and people-driven representation for Esan North East Constituency II,  in the Edo State House of Assembly.
