Performance Over Noise, Results Over Rhetoric: How Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo Is Redefining Effective Governance and Setting a New Standard for Public Office in Nigeria

 I have followed the work of the Minister of Interior so far, and it is obvious that he is one minister who has demonstrated effectiveness in this administration. The way he addressed the issues of passport delays and bureaucracy, as well as his reforms and proactiveness, clearly shows how appointees of government should protect the government they represent and add value to it.

Public office should not be used to oppress, intimidate, or victimize others simply because of the influence one holds within government. Rather, it should be used to deliver results and positively impact the system.

This is how appointees of government should behave;not engaging in unnecessary “cho cho cho” on social media, chasing gossip, or focusing on whose screenshots to send to their principal instead of concentrating on their responsibilities. Appointees should not be preoccupied with envy of others within the same government, but should focus on performance and service delivery.

This is the kind of example that should be emulated,adding value to the government they represent, rather than creating bad impressions, chaos, and poor optics for their principal. Appointees must learn to remain focused on their assignments, instead of acting as busybodies or attempting to use their privileged positions to hijack the ideas and vision of others.
