2027: Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu Emerges APC Candidate for Edo South Senatorial Race

 

In a landslide victory, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu on Monday emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Edo South Senatorial District in the upcoming 2027 National Assembly elections. 

Ize-Iyamu secured the victory after winning the APC primary election, defeating his closest rivals, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama and incumbent Senator Neda Imasuen , with a majority of the votes cast across the 77 wards in the Seven Local Government Council Areas of the Edo South Senatorial district.

Reports from correspondents indicate a massive voter turnout in the primary election held across all seven(7) Local Government Council Areas in the Edo South Senatorial District.

As early as 9 am, eligible voters were seen queuing at various wards, from Oredo, Egor and Ikpoba-Okha as well as Ovia North-East and Ovia South West LGAs including other wards in Uhunmwonde and Orhionmwon, demonstrating their eagerness to participate in the democratic process.

Following the vote count, the chief returning officer, Abubakar Muhammad Kabiru declared Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, the winner, acknowledging his success in securing the highest number of votes. 

According to the Returning Officer,

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu scored 33,399 votes to emerge the winner as Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama polled 12,560 votes while Neda Imasuen got 5,107 votes.

An elated Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, while expressing gratitude to his supporters assured them of better representation after the next round of victory in the general election. 

Officials of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) were on the ground to observe the conduct of the primaries held in the LGAs that made up Edo South Senatorial District.

The victory marks a significant step for Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu as he prepares to represent the APC in the senatorial election.
