EDO’S POWER REVOLUTION: 100MW OLOGBO PROJECT ADVANCES, SET TO TRANSFORM ELECTRICITY SUPPLY AND INDUSTRIAL GROWTH

 GOVERNMENT AND THE PEOPLE: EDO 100MW POWER PROJECT AT OLOGBO TAKES SHAPE

The Edo State Government's bold vision to permanently solve the electricity challenge in the state is fast becoming a reality.

In this episode of Gov't and De People, we visited the 100 Megawatt Power Generation and Industrial Park at Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, being developed by the administration of His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, in collaboration with foreign partners.

A few months after the ground-breaking ceremony, massive progress is now visible on site:

- Dozens of blue natural gas-powered generation containers have arrived and installation is largely completed. Each unit is 2.3MW capacity, building up to the 100MW target.

- The project has secured its power generation license in April and its distribution and transmission licenses in August.

- Work is ongoing on the 33KV transmission line that will evacuate power from Ologbo to Edo State communities.

- The facility is branded CCETC Clean Energy, powered by MWM, using natural gas technology.

Speaking on site, the project engineer confirmed that most of the generation facilities are already on ground and the team is now finalizing investment on transmission infrastructure.

For residents of Ologbo and neighbouring communities, the project means the end of years of spending on fuel and the beginning of new opportunities.

As one community member said, “No be small better thing come so. We dey buy fuel every blessed day. If all state get this kind thing, e don solve 75% of problem for this country. Electricity na the most important thing.”

Another added, “More companies go come here, people go come do business. Better thing don land for Ologbo.”

When completed, the Ologbo 100MW plant will power homes, small businesses, welders, tailors, laundry operators, and attract new industries to Edo State, driving job creation and economic expansion in a peaceful and business-friendly environment.

Governor Monday Okpebholo is delivering on his promise to light up Edo State.
