Hands Off Hon. Chief/Dr Billy Adesuwa Osawaru: A Record That Speaks for Itself
My brothers and sisters supporting Hon. Patrick Aisowieren, let us talk as one people. Political contest is healthy for our democracy. We can disagree, we can debate, but facts should lead us, not insults.
Chief/Dr Billy Adesuwa Osawaru has carried Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency on his back these past 3 years. He has shown up, he has delivered, and he deserves commendation, not condemnation.
If we want an honest talk about who has done what, then let us be fair and use the same measuring stick for everybody. Before you criticize Chief/Dr Billy Osawaru for anything, put Hon Aisowieren’s 8-year record next to Chief/Dr Billy Osawaru’s 3-year record. Look at these:
*1. Legislative Productivity*
- *Number of bills sponsored*: Bills are how laws are made. How many did Chief Billy push in 3 years compared to Hon Aisowieren’s total in 8 years? The records are there. Chief Billy has been deliberate and active on the floor in a short time.
- *Number of motions moved that are important to Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde or Nigeria at large*: Motions bring our problems to the national table. Which motions spoke directly to flooding, bad roads, schools, and insecurity in our villages? Count them for both men and see.
*2. Direct Impact on Our People*
- *Number of jobs and scholarships (international or local) given to their constituents*: Talk is cheap. Representation is about how many of our sons and daughters got jobs or scholarships because their Rep picked up the phone. Put the two records side by side.
- *Constituency projects in their first 3 years*: Development is not invisible. Schools, health centres, boreholes, light, empowerment for our women and youths. Line up what Hon Aisowieren did in his first 3 years against what Chief Billy has done in his first 3 years. Let the projects speak.
*3. Beyond the National Assembly: The NDDC Question*
After that, be fair and look outside the chamber too. Compare Hon Aisowieren’s performance at the NDDC to his counterparts representing Delta State, Bayelsa, and Rivers. NDDC is for regional development. How did Orhionmwon benefit under his watch compared to what others attracted for their people?
*Why This Matters*
Chief Billy did not meet an empty table. He met years of expectations and frustration. In 3 years he has shown presence, accessibility, and results. He sponsors relevant bills, opens doors for our youths, and brings projects home. His style is hands-on.
And unlike before, *we now have a Representative that replies to emails and letters from constituents.* That matters. That is respect. That is service.
Criticism is part of democracy. But let it be based on data, not just sentiment. If our real goal is progress for Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde, then we must reward the person who is delivering and encourage him to do more.
Chief Dr Billy Adesuwa Osawaru has done well, but as he often says himself, he can do better (more). Give him the support to consolidate. *"The hand that works should be strengthened, not cut off."*
Let the records be compared. Let our people decide on facts. Hands off Chief Billy. He has earned our commendation.
